NASCAR Star Kyle Busch and Arizona Coyotes Star Shane Doan trade jerseys before a game during Phoenix International Raceway's night at the rink.

NASCAR star Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 M&M’s Crispy Toyota Camry, attended Thursday’s Arizona Coyotes home game versus the Carolina Hurricanes at Gila River Arena. Busch was in the Phoenix area to promote the start of the 2015 NASCAR season, the Daytona 500, and the 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, scheduled for Sunday, March 15.

Prior to the game, Busch traded jerseys, or in his case, an official crew jacket, with Coyotes captain Shane Doan. The two discussed each other’s sports and their previous meeting in Phoenix.

The expecting father also teamed up with Coyotes in-game host Lindsey Smith for an interview during the first intermission where Smith presented Busch with a miniature hockey sweater for his son on the way.

“I got to meet Shane and do a jersey exchange with him,” said Busch. “It was really, really cool. What was really special was that they made one for my little pup that’s on its way. Baby Busch, we’re calling him, is on his way and due in May. It was really neat. His first jersey, so he’s already going to be a diehard Coyotes fan.”

Busch kicked off the day by joining “The Freaks” in studio at Fox Sports 910 AM, and recorded an in-studio interview with Jude LaCava at Fox 10 that will air in advance of the Daytona 50. Busch also called in to the Roc & Manuch show on NBC Sports 1060 AM and did an interview with the KTAR Coyotes Radio broadcast.

In addition to speaking with the local media, Busch joined both Fox Sports Arizona and Fox Sports Carolina during their game broadcasts to discuss the Daytona 500 and 500 at PIR as well as his baby on the way.

During the second period of the game, Busch participated in PIR’s first-ever Twitter Takeover with a Sprint Cup driver. From the @PhoenixRaceway account, Busch answered questions from fans who tagged their tweets with #PIRGetsRowdy.

“It was a great experience tonight at the Coyotes game,” Busch said. “I really enjoyed being able to come out to Phoenix and see an NHL game live and in person. It’s just the second one I’ve ever been to. The crowd was awesome, the atmosphere was great. You get to see some action on the rink and see these guys skate; it was really cool.”

Though Busch enjoyed his time in Phoenix, his sights are set on the 2015 NASCAR season kicking off with the Daytona 500 on Feb. 22, before making his way out to PIR for the 500 on March 15.

“I’m ready for Daytona,” said Busch. “I’m excited for Daytona. I’m ready for this year to start with Joe Gibbs Racing. For us, we start at our fourth team with Carl Edwards this year and the Toyota group. They’re all ready and I know my M&M’s Crispy cars are looking good. They’re going to be green this year, not our typical yellow. So that will be a little different. I’m excited for that and a chance to have something different out there on the racetrack.

“I love coming to Phoenix. I think Phoenix is one of the coolest, different type of racetracks we get to race on throughout the year. It’s not a typical oval by any means. With turns one and two being way tighter than three and four, the dog leg down the back stretch, it’s just so much fun to race out here in Phoenix. I’m a Las Vegas guy, so I’m a desert rat. I love coming out here to the valley and participating and having fun and sometimes seeing some old friends too. I like it out here. I’ve won a Cup race, a truck race, an XFINITY series race and a few of those, so hopefully we can add to the Cup series realm this time around on March 15.”

Tickets for the 500 start at just $25, and 2015 season tickets are available beginning at $99. Individual tickets and season tickets are available online at, by phone at 1-866-408-RACE (7223) or in person at the PIR ticket office.
